| | Date: | 11/11/2009 02:46:55 | | Subject: | history | | | I am cataloguing photographs of my late father, Flight Lieutenant G.K. MALCOLMSON. One was taken at 'Hoylake' in 1943 when he was playing with Vern ? a pilot from Canada and Nick ? a pilot from Australia. The photo is dated March 1943 and I am wondering if you retain records of golfers for this year; and if so, if you could tell me the surnames of the other two men.
I can email a copy of the photo if this would be of any help.
Regards

I know the weather could have been better for the golf but still proved to be a great test and very enjoyable, high spot for me was a birdy on the 14th, I'm probably easily pleased but it made the wind, rain and cold pale into total insignificance (hope I've spelt that right), thanks again and roll on next year, can't wait.

| | Date: | 13/09/2005 15:46:18 | | Subject: | bunkers at Hoylake | | | After playing this week, I was not ammused at the state of the bunkers. Joe public goes out before the club, and has a total disregard for the course. Comming up 17 i hit the fairway bunker. Normally i would be able to play a good recovery shot, instead i was faced with the prospect of a Size 11 shoe print and numerous indentations. This followed on the 18th as well.
After i had been in the bunker, i felt loathed to smooth it as i had improved the bunker for the group behind
Could hoylake GC have a local rule that the ball can lifted, the bunker raked, and the ball replaced and in the case of a plugged lie, the ball pushed back | | | Post Reply | Display replies to this message
